You never have to raise your hand and hold it up. You never have to say out loud that you are lost. The notes do it for you.

Did you raise your hand? You are a table leader today. You do not need to know it all. Just watch the sticky notes at your table and keep your people with us. Everyone else: your table leader is the fastest help in the room. Ask them first.

Get your Claude

Already have an account? Skip down to the switch. It matters for you too.

  1. Open a browser and go to claude.ai
  2. Click Sign up. Use your business email, the one your customers write to
  3. Type the code it texts to your phone
  4. Pick the $20 plan. It is the one that can read email, and the inbox is the whole point. You pay Anthropic, not me. You can cancel any time.

  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Capabilities
  4. Turn ON Code execution and file creation
Do not skip this. If this stays off, step 3 will not work. It will feel like you broke something. You did not. It is just a switch.

A connector is a key

You hand Claude a key to one thing you already own.

Your email stays right where it is. Nothing gets moved. Nothing gets copied. Claude only looks when you ask it to. You can take the key back any time. And it never sends anything for you unless you say yes first.

There are keys for your calendar, your files, and your books too. Today we use one key. Your inbox is where your people live.

Connect your inbox

  1. Click Customize→Connectors
  2. Click the plus, then find Gmail or Microsoft 365
  3. Click Connect and say yes when your email company asks

That is not a dead end. It is a signal.

What just happenedTools built for business connect to business email. Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail are home email. More of these tools drop them every year.
What it is telling youYour business grew past the email you started it in. That is a good problem. It means you built something worth guarding.
What changes when you own your nameYour email becomes you@yourbusiness.com. The tools work. And your email stops selling a company you do not own. It starts selling yours.

I am not selling you anything. Keep going today. Do steps 3 and 4 like everyone else. Then come to Chill Cawfee on the first Thursday. We will set up your own web name and business email together. It costs less than you think, and it takes about twenty minutes.

A skill is a job description

A connector is a key. A skill is how you want the job done.

A skill is written directions for one job. You write them once. After that, Claude knows your way of doing it and you never explain it again.

This is not tech work. You write it in plain English, the same way you would train a new hire. Here is what I want. Here is how I want it done. Here is what you never do. If you can train a person, you can write a skill.

Here is why that matters. A task is something you do. A system runs the same way every time, whether you are there or not. Every job you repeat can become a skill. That is how you stop being busy and start being built.

Install the Follow-Up Machine

This is the one I built out of my own inbox. I use it every single day. It is yours.

Download the skill One file, about 29 KB. Do not unzip it.
  1. Click Customize→Skills
  2. Click the plus, then Create skill
  3. Click Upload a skill
  4. Pick the file you just downloaded. Do not change it first

Follow-Up Machine now shows up in your skills list. If the upload gets refused, it is almost always the switch back in slide 6.

Run it for the first time

Now you hire it. Open a new chat and type this.

It asks you about your business, the way a new hire would on day one. Short answers are fine. When it asks how deep to go, pick "Keep Me Moving" today so you finish inside the class. You can turn on the rest later. We will do that at coffee.

The three rules, and the two words

Open Claude and say

Ten minutes a day. That is the whole habit.

Never delete its notes.The bottom of each morning note is where it keeps its memory. Leave them in your inbox and it never forgets.

If something goes wrong

The skill will not upload

Check the switch from slide 6: Settings, then Capabilities, then Code execution and file creation. That is the cause almost every time. Second cause: the file was unzipped first. Download it again and upload it exactly as it arrives.

There is no Connect button for my email

You are on a home email account, most likely Yahoo, AOL or Hotmail. Nothing is broken. Do steps 3 and 4 today. Then come the first Thursday and we will set up your own web name together.

Claude is ignoring the skill

Say it plainly in the chat: use my Follow-Up Machine skill.

It flagged someone I talk to every day

Tell it. "We talk by phone. That is normal for us." It saves that as a rule and stops flagging them.

It sounds nothing like me

Change one draft and send your version. It reads your words against its words, and it adjusts.

It forgot everything since last time

Tell it to read its last morning note in your email. Its memory sits at the bottom of every one.

My work email is blocked by my company

That is real, and I cannot fix it in a class. Use a personal Gmail today so you can still do every step. Then bring it to coffee.
